Workers in makeshift operations in Asia expose themselves and the environment to toxic chemicals and metals when they disassemble computers and other gadgets. A new program at Arizona State University (ASU) aims to develop new technologies to reduce the environmental impact of computers at the ends of their lives. The initiative is the first of its kind in the U.S. and among the first in the world.
