The explosion in the creation of better and more complicated nanomaterials is moving far ahead of research on such materials' environmental safety, leaving many to wonder about their potential effects on human health and the environment. New research published in this issue of ES&T (pp 179-184) underscores that these anthropogenic nanomaterials can readily interact with natural materials.
