Thank you for the opportunity to respond to the comment by Dwight and Semenza (1). While we appreciate Dwight and Semenza taking the time to read and comment on our article, there are several misrepresentations that need to be addressed. They criticize our recent article (Ann et al. (2)) on three fronts: (1) our finding that < 5 km of surf zone was impacted by the flow of Stormwater out of the Santa Ana River; (2) our choice of cited papers; and (3) our commitment to public health. These issues are addressed below.
