The debate about whether the Bush Administration misuses science continues to rage in the wake of the February publication of a statement accusing the White House of dis-torting science to suit its political agenda. More than 60 prominent scientists, including university presidents and Nobel laureates, signed the statement, which charges that "the scope and scale of the manipulation, suppression, and misrepresentation of science by the Bush Administration is unprecedented." White House science advisor John Marburger quickly denounced the report, which included many examples of how the science underpinning environmental issues has been manipulated. But the pressure has not let up.
