Harnessing the power of many computers, to solve concurrently difficult scientific problems, is one of the most innovative trend in High Performance Computing. At EDF, we have invested in parallel computing and have achieved significant results. First we improved the processing speed of strategic codes, in order to extend their scope. Then we turned to numerical simulations at the atomic scale. These computations, we never dreamt of before, provided us with a better understanding of metallurgic phenomena. More precisely we were able to trace defects in alloys that are used in nuclear power plants.%Concentrer la puissance de calcul de nombreux ordinateurs, fonctionnant « en parallèle », pour résoudre des problèmes difficiles, est une des orientations novatrices du monde informatique. Pour sa part, EDF s'est investi dans le « calcul parallèle » et a obtenu des résultats probants.
