Potters Fields Park is one of the 100 new public spaces that are to prepare London for the 2012 Olympics. CROSS.MAX. used this commission to give a new impetus to the urban typology of the garden. The 'monstrous green blanket', so typical of contemporary park designs, has been replaced by a delicate green fabric. This 1.5-ha park is a fantastic site on the southern banks of the river Thames with a view of Tower Bridge. GROSS.MAX. has implemented a compact and intimate neighbourhood park that is adjacent to a residential area. By way of gradually descending terraces, this neighbourhood park leads on to a city park along the waterside. Through this graduation, the designers bring about a reintegration of the city with the river Thames. The park's entrance is marked by an l-profile gateway and a cast-iron fencing showing an abstract English crockery pattern.
