摘要

Because multiple environmental pressures mount on these regions from coastal erosion, land reclamation, dredging, increased navigation, oil and gas infrastructure development, and sediment/ nutrients run-off due to increased human activity in the catchment areas, many historical sandy coasts on the earth are being replaced by muddy coasts, which represents a significant and permanent environmental degradation (Wolanski, 2007). The issue of increased muddiness of coastal waters is an ecological and socio-economic issue for the coastal communities worldwide.
