The connection of buildings in the historical old town of Nordhausen/Germany to the district heating system was a big challenge for the local energy supply company Energieversorgung Nordhausen GmbH (EVN). Firstly, there are many particularly narrow streets with cobblestones. In addition, multiple lines had already been installed, making it necessary to consider the use of a flexible pipe. Those responsible at EVN therefore decided to use a Flexwell district heating cable from Brugg Rohrsysteme GmbH. The installation of 312 m pipe was completed in 1.5 days without joints in the ground or compensatory measures.
