摘要

The European Union (EU) has developed to one of the leading player in the global governance challenge of climate change. The transformation that EU institutions and its policies have undergone in the past decades has affected climate change policies within the EU, but also internationally. One question Jordan et al. are tackling in this volume is in how far the EU was able to achieve this, considering the number and variety of actors involved in EU decision making procedures and when policy choices are as sensitive as in the area of climate change. The authors seek to answer this question by drawing on a variety of case studies, involving the interlinked challenges of mitigation and adaptation policies. The book offers a good impression in how far different policy actors dealt with the complex governance challenges associated with climate policy making. The authors explain the machinery of the EU to non-specialists and provide an overview of the unique way the EU governs and how it was able to maintain its leading role in international climate change politics.
