The article refers to a statutory obligation to disclose certain information or documents to a competent organisation for collective management of copyrights as imposed on producers and importers of photocopiers, scanners and other similar reprographic equipment allowing the reproduction of copies or their parts of a published work. The author of the article questions the too broad nature of such an obligation in relation to all transactions having the copying machines as their subject, regardless of the nature of their acquisition, as not fully compatible with the judgment of the Court of Justice of the European Union in Padawan SL v Sociedad General de Autores y Editores de Espana (SGAE) (October 21, 2010) specifically in relation to scanners or multifunction devices.
