摘要

This is the second special edition devoted to the theme of information and communication technologies (ICT) in Engineering Education published through the European Journal of Engineering Education within the past 2 years. The previous publication (Vol. 27, No. 1) appeared in March 2002 and represented an edited selection of papers presented at an international seminar with the theme 'The impact of ICT on the curriculum' hosted by the National University of Ireland, Galway, in May 2001. The content of this second ICT (or e-technologies) edition has been compiled from solicited contributions from individual authors with recognized expertise in this area. It is inevitable that space limitations dictate only a limited number of papers can be squeezed into a single issue. The 9 papers included here represent as wide a range of interest as was possible: there are contributions from Europe, the USA and Australia, from software developers, educationalists and course providers; papers cover mentoring, distance learning, virtual learning environments and projections into the future.
