The conception of a new method for measurement of the temperature generated by the grinding wheel operation has been presented. The essence of this method is the use and location "over the grinding wheel" of a new patented thermocouple of multilayer structure. Examples of the use of the layer thermocouple recommended for the investigation of the temperature aspect of grinding wheels cutting ability have been given.
