摘要

The book titled Small-Town America: finding community, shaping the future, written by Robert Wuthnow, offers a calm, rational discussion of communities of small towns in the United States. The main research problem of this publication is to find the answer to the question 'What does it mean for the residents of small towns to live there?'. The author focused on answering the questions how the residents of America's small towns find community, what it means to them or why it is important. The author used qualitative methods like in-depth interviews with inhabitants of small towns across the United States. In addition the author with his team conducted a national survey with more than 1,5 thousand respondents.
