The law relating to the international transportation of goods is complex, but as a practical lawyer who regularly acts for cargo insurers who are seeking a recovery from a carrier for lost or damaged cargo, I often find that the need to identify the right claimant who has title to sue the carrier can be the most troublesome feature of the case. Although the title of this presentation refers to title to sue and recourse in the United Kingdom, I will restrict my comments to matters concerning English law.
