The European Parliament's Committee on the Environment and Public Health (ENVI) gave the green light, on 22 January, to the compromise on the draft Tobacco Products Directive. The text repeals Directive 2001/37/EC and sets minimum standards for the appearance of unit packets while permitting member states to go further. It requires the placement of combined health warnings on 65% of the front and back surface of packets.
