"Industry matters." Under this watchword, European business leaders and top EU officials gathered and exchanged views on shaping a new industrial policy for the EU at a conference organised by Busines-sEurope, on 28 January, in the wake of the presentation, last week, of the European Commission's communication calling for an "industrial renaissance". The conference showed that, indeed, industry matters for EU leaders, but the speeches they delivered also revealed that the problems remain the same since the beginning of the economic crisis.
