The CEOs of major European renewable energy companies are calling on European Union's leaders to commit to national binding targets for renewables for 2030, warning against the renation-alisation of energy policies and a lack of investor confidence. "There is a basic inconsistency between fixing binding targets at the EU level without binding targets at the national level," said Massimo Derchi, the CEO of ERG Renew, the first wind power operator in Italy, now with over 1,300 MW installed wind power capacity. "No one has managed to explain how this could work and we cannot rely on the willingness of member states.""It could lead to the renationalisation of energy policies, despite statements calling for a more harmonised energy market," he added.
