The Dell PowerEdge R415 rack-mount server is a general-purpose workhorse that is a worthwhile choice for cost-conscious organizations. But the model is more than just a replacement for Dell's SC1435, which is a 1U AMD-processor-based pizza box. In the PowerEdge R415, Dell is recognizing the rise of server virtu-alization in the data center by vastly increasing the maximum configuration to 128GB and up to 12 cores using AMD's Lisbon-based 4100 series Opteron processors.
