摘要

In a ballroom the size of a Google server farm, the National Press Foundation kicked off the spring prom season Feb. 28 in your nation's capital. More than 1,000 tuxedo-clad journalists congratulated other journalists in rented duds for their good works last year. For those of you who live outside the Beltway and otherwise have better things to do, remember, journalists spend spring in Washington honoring one another. The awards dinner circuit is considered so routine even C-Span skips most of them, and that's saying something. Not even an appearance by former White House press secretary Tony Snow and his band, Beats Working, interested C-Span. Judging by the size of the post-dinner crowd that hung around for the Snow show, the NPF attendees weren't much interested, either.
