Network Appliance has been officially known by that formal name since its launch way back in 1992, when it started life as a "little file server company," Dan Warmenhoven, now celebrating his 14th year as CEO of the company, told eWEEK. That's changed. As of March 10, the storage software/hardware/services supplier rejected its maiden name in a legal action; from now on, it will be known far and wide simply as NetApp.
