Many Of Us In The Information Technology Industry Are Waking up to the fact that the government wants to be a big part of our daily business lives. Other industries live and die within the framework of government regulations: The FAA's for aviation and the FDA's for pharmaceuticals and biotech are only two examples. From Sar-banes-Oxley to Basel II to Gramm-Leach-Bliley, it is just a matter of time until a significant amount of the IT infrastructure finds itself under the watchful eye of the U.S. government. When that happens, it will be difficult indeed to find an industry of any significance that remains unregulated.
