When Juniper announced last year that it would open Its Junos network operating system to 3rd party developed applications Its stated focus was very much on applications to enhance network functionality, but it now canvasses the possibility of general business applications that would compete with Microsoft Office being developed to run directly under Junos. Junos is the OS that runs across the full gamut of Juniper products, from its high-end core routers to switches and security devices designed for installation in branch offices or SMEs.
