Common Marmoset (Callithrix jacchus) embryo collection has been performed by surgical uterine flushing. Since surgical embryo collection is an invasive procedure for animals, establishment of an alternative non-invasive embryo collection technique is desirable. In this study, a non- invasive technique for the recovery of uterine stage pre-implantation embryos was developed for the common marmoset. Fifteen female marmosets older than 2 years of age were used in this study. To control ovarian cycles, 0.75μg/head of PGF2 α was administered and serum concentration of progesterone on days -1, 1,9, 11 and 13 was measured by EIA to estimate ovulation. A glass tube connected to a vacuum blood collection test tube was inserted into the vagina to collect flushing medium and uterus was percutaneously held by hand. Medium flushing was performed using a 23 G needle percutaneously inserted in the uterus. Effluent flushing medium was collected in vacuum blood collection test tube.
