Cloth bedding (CB) for rodents is developed recently. The bedding is expected to reduce animal wastes and allergens by repeat use after washing. In this study, we examined the bedding whether it is suitable for the well-being of mice and animal care at animal facilities. Ten pairs (1 male and 2 females) of C57BL/6 mice were each housed in cages with CB and paper bedding (PB) for 2 weeks, and their pregnancy rate, total number of delivered pups, number of weanlings were compared between the two groups. Both bedding were changed biweekly. Dirty CB was washed according to the direction given by the manufacturer, autoclaved, and then reused as clean bedding.
