Carnival will spend a staggering $400M through 2017 to install exhaust gas scrubber technology aboard more than 70 of its vessels, which encompasses more than 70% of its global fleet. This represents more than a doubling of plans announced in September 2013, when Carnival committed to spend more than S180M to install scrubbers aboard 32 vessels. So far installation plans have been confirmed for 57 Carnival Corp ships: 22 in the Carnival Cruise Lines fleet; 10 for AIDA; 9 for Holland America; 7 for Princess; 6 for Costa; and 3 for Cunard.
