On New Year's Day, Taizhou's Sanfu shipyard in China signed an order for two multipurpose container carriers with Switzerland's SCL Reederei.The 18,000dwt vessels are due for delivery in June and September 2012. The contract price was believed to be about $25M/vessel. The carriers have an overall length of 161.5m, a beam of 25.2m and a draught of 8m. Germanischer Lloyd will class the vessels. The design is based on a similar specification used for three vessels contracted by the Berne-based owner in 2007 at the Jiangsu Sugang yard in China. The three ships are due for delivery in 2011.
