Completed at the very end of 2 012 by STX at its Jinhae yard in South Korea, 155,000dwt shuttle tanker Elka Leblon is the first in a three-ship series for the Greek owner, European Navigation. As oil exploitation moves further offshore, shuttle tankers become ever more useful in loading the crude without the need for FPSOs or shore terminals. Elba Leblon and its sisters were ordered at a reported figure of around USD90m each in early 2011 and are destined to service contracts that the owner has signed with Brazil's major oil company, Petrobras.
