Anew data-management system has been developed by GE Power Conversion for remote monitoring and diagnostics of proprietary drives, machinery, and other equipment at sea to raise the effectiveness and efficiency of problem response and resolution. The Visor Insight Management system draws data in many different forms from multiple sources aboard ship, presenting this on a single screen in simplex text and graphics. Input signals from vessel alarms, sensors, and various subsystems appear on a deck plan of the vessel. By touching or mouse-clicking on individual elements on the screen, operators can delve through different 'layers' to quickly find the information needed to facilitate their task.
