At a time when eastern Asian shipbuilders and Middle East construction yards are attracting the lion's share of orders for offshore wind turbine installation vessels, the reinvigorated JJ Sietas establishment has won a major deal for the industry in Germany. Dutch-based marine contractor Van Oord has entrusted the yard at Neuenfelde, on the north bank of the Elbe downstream of Hamburg, with the development and building of a self-propelled unit of jack-up type.
