In the container fleet analysis in the March 2010 issue, Solutions predicted that it was almost certain that many of the newbuildings then on order would not be built - and that even where non-returnable deposits had been paid it could be in the long-term financial interests of the owner to walk away from the contract. Ten months on, the current status ofthe orderbook shows that this has indeed been the case.
