It's one of Britain's oldest ports with a history stretching back to Roman times and is the spiritual home of the Royal Navy, but in this image-conscious age, plain old Portsmouth is not enough. Last month it declared it wants to be known as Portsmouth International Port. According to its operator, Portsmouth is playing a more important role in international trade, is getting a new cruise terminal and the cargo area of the port is to be dredged and enlarged.
