The first decade of the 21st century saw some major new developments in tanker design and some rather distinctive looking vessels as a result. These include various Stena Max designs, with their broader beams and twin propulsion systems, and the double-acting tankers Mastera and Tempera, which were soon followed by more ships for Russian interests.rnInternally many changes were being made. Double-hull vessels became the norm and the common structural rules of I ACS members were introduced, meaning that differences between designs approved by individual societies disappeared to be replaced by a more or less homogenous offering regardless of class society.
