With more than a decade having passed since its unveiling by what was then Kvaerner Masa-Yards Arctic Technology Centre - now better known as Aker Arctic Technology, which is a division of STX Finland - the oblique icebreaker looked destined never to progress beyond the model tank tests carried out in 1997.
