Finnish engine and propulsion specialist Waertsilae is claiming that trials of its Energopac integrated propeller and rudder design have shown fuel savings of almost 4% when tested on a series of multipurpose cargo vessels.rnThe recent trials, carried out in co-operation with the Spliethoff Group, involved eight 17,700dwt vessels, six of which were fitted with standard rudders and two with Energopac. The trials have shown that the Energopac solution saves close to 4% power in design condition.
