Denoting a further stage in shipbuilder Royal Niestern Sander's long relationship with Groningen-based fleet operatorWagenborg, and providing fresh expression of Dutch expertise in the multi-purpose dry cargo vessel sector, the delivery of the 7,350dwt Lauwersborg in September of last year heralded a versatile, new four-ship series. Built to Finnish-Swedish 1A ic-class standard, the gearless vessel and its three future consorts are lengthened versions of Wagenborg's preceding quartet of 6,100dwt Hunzeborg-type cargo ships completed in 2006 by Royal Niestern Sander.
