The latest addition to the range of access systems is the Ampelmann, produced by a Dutch company of the same name that was recently spun-off from Delft University of Technology. This is based on a six-legged hydraulic motion-compensation platform with a telescoping access bridge mounted atop it - technology derived from the kind of motion platforms that have become a common feature of flight simulators and fairground rides.
