Dutch expertise in constructing specialist ships was highlighted in July with the launch of the diving support/offshore construction vessel Seven Atlantic at the IHC Merwede yard in Hardinxveld Giessendam. The vessel was designed by Merwede Shipyard in close liaison with the shipowner Subsea 7 and the dive spread manufacturer. Designed for saturation and air diving support work, the new Seven Atlantic is fully dynamic positioned and suitable for worldwide operations. The integrated saturated diving system is accommodated in the midships and is suitable for a total capacity of eight diving teams, each consisting of three divers. The dive system is designed for operations in water depths up to 350m.
