After celebrating the centenary of the country's ship register last year, the Panama Maritime Authority (AMP) is setting its sights on Asia in 2018. In particular, it is focusing on opportunities stemming from the opening of diplomatic relations with China in June 2017. Last November marked the first official Panamanian visit to Beijing for the signing of important treaties, including one on maritime transport.
