US president Donald J Trump has ranked a billion-dollar project to deepen the Lower Mississippi River as a top priority. The Emergency and National Security Projects list, compiled after Trump was elected in November 2016 but before he was sworn into office, included two other port schemes: the USD700 million harbour deepening at Savannah, Georgia, and improvements to Port Newark Container Terminal, part of Port of New York and New Jersey, a USD500 million project still seeking permits.
