The container shipping industry has been warned to expect aggregate losses exceeding USD5 billion this year, while another drop in freight rates is also expected after an estimated fall of 9% in 2015. Drewry, the London-based consultancy that published the forecast, noted that market conditions forced many lines at the end of last year to abandon the rate increases that they had been seeking.
