A green coalition has threatened to sue if the US government does not step up protection of coral reefs during dredging at Port Everglades, Florida. In a letter sent to the US Army Corps of Engineers on 31 May, the coalition demanded that the corps seek a second opinion from wildlife experts on efforts to mitigate potential damage when the port's USD380 million deepening scheme begins. The project is awaiting USD220 million to be authorised and distributed from federal coffers.
