Having clinched two floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) projects since 2011, Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) aims to put more research into this sector. Project management, engineering, and construction had been separate divisions, but "now we have a project operations organisation, and I'm in charge of project management and engineering", executive VP Won Youn Sang told IHS Maritime at the builder's Geoje yard. "We try to drive our company to more project-oriented work," said Won, who added that floating liquefied natural gas "is the market trend, and we try to put more efforts in this area as we expect this market to grow".
