BW Maritime has told IHS Maritime that the reason for Andreas Sohmen-Pao's decision to step down as the company's CEO, revealed last week, was to enable BW to develop into a broad range of markets. "BW has significantly broadened its scope of activity in the past decade across multiple maritime sectors and is well positioned for future growth," a company spokesman said. "In order to further build the management team to handle the volume of new activity, BW has brought on board a new CEO." Sohmen-Pao will stay on as a board member, while Carsten Mortensen will become CEO. He has resigned as CEO of Norden, the Copenhagen-listed bulk shipping group.
