摘要

Gibraltar has begun the fightback against Algeciras' bunkering challenge, approving cuts in anchorage dues last month. The new fees include a 75% reduction on tonnage dues for vessels calling at the eastern anchorage to take on provisions, stores and spares, and make crew changes. They complement a proposed 75% reduction (previously 50%) on the completion of bunkers at the western anchorage within the time legislated by the port. The port authority is currently discussing longer-term measures to improve bunkering infrastructure. Earlier this year, it freed two more bunkering slots in the western anchorage. The authority declined to say more about other measures while discussions continue. IHS Maritime approached bunker suppliers on Gibraltar, but there was a general reluctance to comment.
