Last month's purchase by Norwegian Cruise Line of a quartet of scrubbers to be fitted on its flagship Pride of America in March is the latest in a steady stream of such orders by cruise operators and could mark a breakthrough for scrubbing technology. The scrubbers will be installed during a drydock in Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard. The order is a milestone for manufacturer Green Tech Marine, set up less than three years ago, and follows a pilot installation on board Royal Caribbean's Liberty of the Seas in late 2011.
