The passenger ferry Rabaul Queen went down in the Solomon Sea in February 2012, killing more than 160 people. As a result, Papua New Guinea's National Maritime Safety Authority (NMSA) currently faces a class action and police investigation. The ferry's owner and master are also subject to the class action, with police investigating whether to lay charges for manslaughter by negligence against them.
