When the Heerema H-850 lowered Woodside's 24,000-tonne North Rankin B topside into position on Australia's North West Shelf last April it was the biggest barge doing the biggest float-over ever recorded, according to Tom O'Neill, NRB delivery manager. "The successful use of the float-over method for such large topsides in open waters has opened a new chapter in the history of the global oil and gas industry," he said in a company statement.
