Sir, Comments in the article titled 'Clawing back the cash' (Fairplay, 21 February), present a perspective on exhaust gas cleaning technology, or scrubbers, that is not entirely balanced. "Scrubbers are not cheap" is an observation that does not account for the significant role that sophisticated exhaust gas cleaning technology can play in reducing the shipping industry's cost of complying with new regulations.
