The National Iranian Tanker Company (NITC) has appointed Ali Akbar Safa'ie, previously both an NITC member and ports and maritime director-general of Hormozgan province (southern Iran), to replace the dismissed Hamid Behbahani (pictured) as head of the state-owned company. It is just over a year since Behbahani, a former minister and ally of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, took the position, according to a report by Mehr news agency. NITC's fleet, whose oil carrying capacity is at least 72M barrels, is blacklisted by the West.
