Adrian Tolson of OW Bunker believes there's no reason the bunker industry should be looked upon as "a bunch of crooks and pirates", as he recalls one shipping association chairman describing his business in 2006. "There were elements of truth to that and it was an indication of how the industry was perceived, but there's an opportunity to remake that image," he said. It can be done by cultivating trusting relationships with shipowners - providing credit and logistics solutions, as well providing bunker fuel.
